gateway - Immaculate concepcion - home
Sunday - September 14, 2008
(artist kasi si 'R" - photographer, painter etc. all things related to art ginagawa ata nya).
ayun during dinner napagusapan namin ata yung mga nangyari nung highschool pa kami. puro tawanan. mga nakakatawang bagay nung highschool, ung mga impression namin sa isat isa atbp.
after dinner nagsimba kami sa Immaculate concepcion sa my new york (cubao) before the mass start pinagtitinginan namin yung mga magbf na naghaharutan at ginagawan namin ng script hehehe..

Wow Bohol!
Grabe sobrang nice ng experience ko last weekend.. I spend my weekend at Bohol.
Departure from manila - tagbilaran is Friday (8-8-08) 8:00am Arrival is 9:45am

It is one of the best presevered Jesuit build churches in the region, although in the 19th century, the Augustinian Recollects added a modern facade and a number of stone buildings that now surround the church
They are so cute. I think their size is just like our fist close. According to the care taker, they could live up to 25 years. They do not bite but if you attack them they will attack you also. They are also one of our endagered species here in the Philippines. So we must protect them before it's too late.

We had our day tour.
First stop at Blood Compact. (Legazpi and Si Katuna)
With the Statue of of Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna plus the overview of Panglao Island. Breathtaking scenery.
Tagbilaran, specifically the district of Bool, witnessed the forging of the first international treaty of peace and friendship between two nations of different race and creed. On that fateful day of March 16, 1565, Captain General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi of the Spanish expedition and Datu Sikatuna, a native chieftain of Bohol, sealed their friendship in a native ritual, the Blood Compact. As is the native custom at that time, the two sealed their friendship through the shedding of blood wherein both draw two to three drops of blood from their arms, mix the blood with the wine and then equally drank from the cup. Other historians say that the blood-wine mixture was divided equally between the two and then they both drank the contents up to the last drop.

Baclayon Church (2nd oldest Church in the Philippines)
It is one of the best presevered Jesuit build churches in the region, although in the 19th century, the Augustinian Recollects added a modern facade and a number of stone buildings that now surround the church
Only in 1717, Baclayon became a parish, and construction of a new church commenced. Some 200 native forced laborers constructed the church from coral stones, which they took from the sea, cut into square blocks, and piled on to each other. They used bamboo to move and lift the stones in position, and used the white of a million eggs as to cement them together. The current building was completed in 1727. The church obtained a large bell in 1835. In the Baclayon church is a dungeon, which was used to punish natives who violated the rules of the Roman Catholic church.
Next to the church is the old convent, which also houses a small museum with centuries-old religious relics, artifacts and other antiquities, dating back to the 16th century. Included in the collection are an ivory statue of the crucified Christ looking towards heaven; a statue of the Blessed Virgin, said to be presented by Queen Catherine of Aragon; relics of St. Ignatius of Loyola, old gold embroidered ecclesiastical vestments, books with carabao skin covers, and librettos of church music written in Latin on sheep skins. Here you can also find the cuadro paintings made by the Filipino painter Liberato Gatchalian in 1859
We also pass by to Alburquerque Church and Cathedral of San José

The Philippine tarsier, (Tarsius syrichta) is very peculiar small animal. In fact it is one of the smallest known primates, no larger than a adult men's hand. Mostly active at night, it lives on a diet of insects. Folk traditions sometimes has it that tarsiers eat charcoal, but actually they retrieve the insects from (sometimes burned) wood. It can be found in the islands of Samar, Leyte, Bohol, and Mindanao in the Philippines.
Class :Mammalia

Day 2
Spend all day at the beach. We had our resort accommodation at Dumaluan Beach Resort (this is the nearest resort to Bohol Beach Club)
Super ganda ng Beach most specially at Bohol Beach Club.. panginternational ang service and facilities. Sulit ang entrance fee (consumable pa sya).
The sand is so fine.. Super clear water, hindi rin sya sobrang maalat.
You'll love the place! I love Bohol =)
Picture will be posted soon =)

Improvising Your Approach to Improvement
by Dr. John C. Maxwell
Our well-being and happiness are tied to the notion that our lives can improve. We hope for a better future for our company, our kids, and ourselves. We dream of a tomorrow that's better and brighter than today.
Here are a few improvements many of us desire to see:
We hope to lose weight and improve our fitness
We hope to earn more money and improve our financial standing
We hope to argue less with our spouse and improve our marriage
Over the next year, if we knew our health would deteriorate, our economic situation would worsen, and our closest relationships would unravel, then we'd be depressed. In fact, even if we knew our lives would stay the same, most of us would feel unsatisfied. We're always looking to improve the quality of our lives - it's human nature.
Unfortunately, many of us never go beyond hoping for improvements to actually making them. In this lesson, I'd like to share some insights to help you improvise your approach to improvement.
Develop Habits
The secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda. Leaders who make successful improvements share a common denominator: they form habits of daily action that those who fail to improve never develop. As my friend Andy Stanley says, "Your direction determines your destination." The steps you make each day, for good or ill, eventually chart the path of your life.
Consider the analogy of saving for retirement. Financial advisers counsel us to invest for retirement early in our careers and consistently throughout life. If we do, we can quit working at 65 with a sizeable nest egg. However, if we neglect funding our 401(k) each month, then we end up with nothing. We may still "hope" to win the lottery and secure our financial future, but we've lost the ability to control our fate.
Befriend Discipline
We live in the ultimate quick-fix culture. Everyone wants to be thin, but few people eat healthy and exercise. Everyone wants financial stability, but many refuse to be bothered by a budget. Rather than trouble ourselves with discipline, we opt for diet fads or speculate in the stock market. When we don't see long-term improvements, we discard one fad in favor of another.
In life, there are two kinds of pain: the pain of self-discipline and the pain of regret. The pain of self-discipline involves sacrifice, sweat, and delayed gratification. Thankfully, the reward of improvement softens the pain of self-discipline and makes it worthwhile. The pain of regret begins as a missed opportunity and ends up as squandered talent and an unfulfilled life. Once the pain of regret sets in, there's nothing you can do other than wonder, "What if?"
Admit Mistakes
When trying to improve, we not only risk failure, we guarantee it. The good news is that mistakes generally teach us far more than success. There's no sense pretending we're perfect. Even the best of the best have moments of weakness. That's why it's important to be honest when we fall short, learn from the mistake, and move forward with the knowledge gained.
Measure Progress
You cannot manage what you cannot measure. Identify the areas in which improvement is essential to your success and find a way to track your progress. Keeping score holds you accountable and gives you a clear indicator of whether or not you're actually improving.
Change Continually
Continual change is essential for improvement. One of the great paradoxes of success is that the skills and qualities that get you to the top are seldom the ones that keep you there. The quest to improve forces us to abandon assumptions, embrace innovation, and seek new relationships. If we're complacent for too long, we'll fall behind the learning curve. Once this happens, it's a steep, uphill climb to get back to the top.
The desire for improvement has a degree of discontent in it. Personal growth requires apparently contradictory mindsets: humility to realize you have room to grow but also confidence that improvement is possible.
